Hi, I’m Vadim — and I started exactly where you are now

For years I dreamed about it. The quiet of the open sea, and the storm that comes after it. In the end I signed up for a course, and it stopped being a dream and became a date in my diary.

I’m guessing you’ve already pictured it — a beer on deck off the Israeli coast, or a long passage that asks something real of you. But between the dream and the sea there’s an exam, and to get through it I looked for everything I could find: websites, apps, simulators, slide decks.

What I found was disappointing. Incomplete, scattered, not serious — and above all, all of it taught me to memorise. “The answer to question 47 is c.” No why. No rule behind it.

I remembered that when I studied for my driving theory test, I paid a few shekels for one website and passed easily — not because I’d memorised anything, but because it really explained things to me. For a boating course, which is several times more complicated, there was nothing close to that.

So instead of opening yet another twenty tabs and testing my memory against 1,582 questions, I built myself what I’d been looking for.

I split all the questions into topics, so that you can close one and move on to the next. I built a simulator that generates exams to the official structure — the same number of questions, the same range for each category, the same clock — so that nothing surprises you on exam day. You can practise under real conditions, timed and with no answers shown, or in practice mode, where after every answer you see straight away what’s right and why.

And the part that took the longest: I sat down and wrote an explanation for every question. Not “the answer is b”, but what rule the question is testing, why the right answer follows from it, and why the very one you picked sounds reasonable and still doesn’t hold up. Because once you understand the rule, you also get right the next five questions that rest on it.

The site did exactly what I meant it to do for me, and it stays here for you — so that you learn instead of memorising, save yourself the money and time of a resit, and get out to sea quickly and with confidence.

I read every message. If something is broken, unclear or simply missing — you can write to me. And if you support the site: thank you. Your support is what keeps it online for everyone who comes after you.

Vadim
