Navigation A — Coastal — question 33
At 09:30 your vessel is near the buoy with the characteristic Fl(2)8s, which carries a radar reflector (the buoy is in Haifa Bay). From this buoy she must sail to the entrance of Akko harbour (between the two entrance lights). The wind is from 060°. She can sail within 35° of the wind on either tack. The wind causes 5° of leeway. Make the passage as close-hauled as possible, in two legs (tacks) only. Find:
- The two true courses (TC). 095°, 025°
- The two courses over the ground (COG). 100°, 020°
- The total distance sailed. 5.5 miles
The question is solved on chart 1000. On the site it comes with the relevant sections of the chart.
